I am a month late in writing this post but better late than never, right? Are you big into making new goals & resolutions at the beginning of each year? I know many don’t like to use the term “resolution” & I never really understood why. As I was making mine this year I had to remind myself that a resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. People often confuse that with a goal which is an aim or desired result. I choose to have both!
I made a huge list last year (you can read here) which I was totally avoiding on reading this year because I just KNOW I didn’t follow up on any of them lol. But I did & I shocked myself enough to know that I didn’t do as bad as I thought. I think if I failed at one goal, it would have to be the one where I’d like to “read more”. It’s still such a huge goal of mine but instead of 1 book a month, maybe 1 book every 3 months?
I don’t have too many “resolutions” this year other than to watch my language. I am HUGE on not cursing because I’m very old school & was always taught it’s not “ladylike” but lately, I’ve been getting a little out of hand with the bad words. So one New Year Resolution of mine is to no longer curse. I do have a ton of expectations & goals for this year though! This is the year of EXCEEDING so I am believing God will exceed my expectations for 2018 & you should believe that too! 2018 is going to be a BIG one for me. So many awesome things will happen this year & I truly believe it’s gonna be my best year yet!
“You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.” PSALM 65:11
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” JEREMIAH 17:7-8
One goal of mine was to throw an epic 90s themed 25th birthday party. Which I totally did, blog post coming soon! Other than my ordinary, eat healthier, drink more water, stay active & get back on a regular workout schedule, my ultimate goal for 2018 is to be happy. It’s way too easy for me to get upset about something & stay upset. I can spend a good amount of my time being unhappy which is such a waste of life. We’re only on Earth for such a short period of time so why not be happy? Some expectations I have is to find an awesome internship that will hopefully give me an experience beyond my wildest dreams. I am hoping to either land a job with whomever I intern with or I am hoping an even better job opportunity will come from that internship after I graduate. I plan to travel a bit this year. Henry & I would love to visit Canada for our 2 year anniversary, I’d like to go to the Bahamas for my graduation trip & we’d also like to take 2 small trips to North Carolina & Seattle. Not only would I love to read one book every 3 months but I’d like to complete 3 bible plans a month. One alone, one with a friend & one with Henry.
A huge goal for Henry & I is to take more pictures together! I know you’re probably laughing but ever since I became a blogger, we quickly stopped taking pictures together & it was always just pictures of me and my outfits. We love to create memories so not only are we trying to take more pictures but also vlog our life so when we have kids, we’re able to show them how cool their parents were. We also would love to go on a date once a month. We spend a lot of time together but it’s kind of turned into me watching youtube while he watches sports. Not much quality time. We also expect to grow stronger together & just like last year, we expect to continue to grow closer to God. Last but not least, Henry & I have plans to get engaged this year! It’s something we would’ve done forever ago but we have just been waiting on me finishing up school!
Last year was a really hard one for me with going to school full time, working full time, volunteering at church, studying abroad & starting a blog quickly was the least of my concerns. When I first started my blog, it was great! I was putting so much effort into it but then I realized I wasn’t able to put as much effort into school, I had to switch gears & take a step back & hit the pause button on blogging. This year I am thankfully in my last 3 classes, therefore, school isn’t AS stressful so I plan to really focus on my blog and let it flourish. I also expect to start my youtube channel this year! It’s a dream that was placed on my heart years ago when I was in high school & I am finally going to make it come to life! In order to really build a name for myself & this business, everyone seems to be going into nowadays, I really have to be better at my time management & effort. I was gifted the best planner, to write down my schedule each month and plan out blog posts, videos & more.
Once again, I hope you got a kick out of reading my resolutions, goals & expectations for 2018. What are some goals you have for this year!? Comment down below, I’d love to hear yours!
